There's Never Been a Better Time to Start Using Pinterest for Your Business

Jul 23, 2026

One of the things I hear almost every single week whether it's on a networking call, in my Instagram DMs, or from someone who books a strategy session is this:"Camille...I know I should be using Pinterest. I just don't think now is the right time."

And honestly...I get it.

Because "later" always sounds like it'll be easier. Later when work slows down. Later when the kids go back to school. Later when your website is finally finished. Later when you have more blog posts. Later when you have more time.

The funny thing is...I've been having this exact conversation with business owners for years now, and "later" has a way of turning into six months...or even a year.

Meanwhile, they're still creating content. They're posting on Instagram. They're writing emails. They're recording podcast episodes. They're updating their website. They're putting in the work every single week.

The problem is that most of that content gets about 24 hours in the spotlight before it disappears into the feed. Every time I have one of these conversations, I find myself thinking the same thing: Your content deserves so much better than that.

That's one of the biggest reasons I love Pinterest. Not because it's another platform you have to keep up with.

Actually...it's kind of the opposite. Pinterest helps the content you're already creating continue working after you hit publish and I think that's something more business owners need.

This Is Where I Think a Lot of Business Owners Get Stuck

I don't think most people are avoiding Pinterest because they don't believe it works. Most of the business owners I talk to have heard good things about Pinterest. They know people are getting website traffic. They've heard it can help grow an email list. They've even thought about hiring someone to help someday. The problem usually isn't believing in Pinterest. The problem is believing they have to be "ready" first.

Somehow we've convinced ourselves that we need all of these things before we can even think about Pinterest. A perfect website. A year's worth of blogs. A beautifully organized content calendar. Professional brand photos. A few extra hours every week that magically appear out of nowhere.

Can I tell you something? I've worked with well over 150 businesses over the years, and I honestly can't think of a single one that felt completely ready when they started. Most of them were figuring things out as they went. Just like you probably are.

Can I Give You Something to Think About?

Imagine you wrote one really helpful blog post today. Now imagine someone finds it six months from now because they searched for the exact question you answered.

A few days later, they join your email list. A few weeks after that, they become a client.

You weren't online when they found you. You weren't posting on Instagram that day. You weren't launching anything. Your content simply kept working. That's what I love about Pinterest.

It gives your content a chance to keep showing up long after you've moved on to creating something new. I don't know about you, but that sounds a whole lot better than feeling like I have to wake up every morning and wonder what I'm going to post that day.

The Longer You Wait, the Longer You're Delaying Results

I know this part can be a little uncomfortable, but it's true. Pinterest isn't a platform where you publish something today and expect hundreds of people to see it tomorrow.

It's a long game. Every pin you create is another opportunity for someone to discover your business. Some pins take off quickly. Some take a few months. Some continue bringing traffic years later...but none of them can start working until they're actually out in the world.

So every month you spend waiting because you don't feel ready...is another month your future content isn't building momentum.

Not because you're doing anything wrong. Just because you haven't started yet.

You Probably Have More Pinterest Content Than You Think

This is probably my favorite part of working with new clients. Almost every single conversation starts the same way. "I don't really have anything to put on Pinterest."

So I start asking questions. Do you have a services page? A free guide? A podcast? A few blog posts? A product? Frequently asked questions? Testimonials? A resource page? Instagram posts that teach something?

Almost every time, they stop me halfway through. "Okay...when you put it that way, I guess I actually have quite a bit." Exactly.

Pinterest isn't asking you to create an entirely new business. It's asking you to give the content you've already worked hard to create another opportunity to be found. That's a much different perspective.

Pinterest Doesn't Reward Perfection

If you've followed me for a while, you've probably heard me say this before.

Action beats perfection. Every single time.

I would much rather see you create one helpful pin this week than spend the next four months trying to build the "perfect" Pinterest strategy.

Because here's what happens. You create one pin...then another...then another.

Before you know it, you've built a library of content that's quietly working behind the scenes while you're serving clients, spending time with your family, coaching, taking a weekend at the cabin, or just enjoying a slower day.

That's the kind of marketing I want for my business...and  it's the kind of marketing I want for yours, too.

Your Next Steps

If you've been waiting for the perfect time to start Pinterest, here's what I'd love for you to do this week.

1. Look at what you've already created.

Don't think about what you're missing. Think about what you already have. You might be surprised.

2. Pick one piece of evergreen content.

A blog. A podcast. A recipe. A service page. A lead magnet. Just one.

3. Stop waiting for perfect.

Seriously. There will always be another reason to wait. But there will also always be someone searching for the exact thing you can help them with.

A Few Questions I Get All the Time

Do I need a blog before I start Pinterest?

No. A blog is wonderful, but it's not the only content that works on Pinterest. Service pages, podcasts, lead magnets, products, recipes, and educational resources can all be great places to start.

What if I don't have much time?

That's actually one of the reasons I recommend Pinterest so often. You're creating content that has the opportunity to keep working after you publish it instead of disappearing after a day or two.

How long does Pinterest take to work?

Pinterest is a long-term strategy, and that's part of what makes it so valuable. You're building a library of searchable content that continues growing over time rather than relying on a single post to perform.

If this article has you thinking, "Okay...I think I'm finally ready to stop putting Pinterest off," I'd love to help you get started. My free Money Making Machine guide will walk you through the foundations of using Pinterest as part of an evergreen marketing strategy. It's the perfect place to start if you're still figuring out how Pinterest fits into your business.

If you'd rather skip the guessing and have a personalized plan, my Pinterest Strategy Intensive is designed to give you a clear roadmap built around your business, your content, and your goals. Together, we'll figure out exactly where Pinterest fits and how to make it work for you.

Can I leave you with one last thought? A year from now, I don't think you'll wish you had waited another six months to start Pinterest. I think you'll wish you had started six months earlier. Because every blog post, podcast episode, freebie, recipe, or service page you create has the potential to keep helping people long after you hit publish. Your content is already working hard. Pinterest simply helps it work a little longer..and if you ask me, that's something every business owner deserves. 💜
